Laura Linney, best known for her strong but fragile characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of our times. Born to a famous playwright father, but being raised by a single mother, who earned her living by working as a nurse. She became interested in theatre while working with her father during the summer then pursuing acting studies, initially at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. In the two years following her graduation she started the beginning of her Broadway career. Two years later, she was on television. Since then she has appeared in a variety of TV productions, films and stage plays. Through her entire career, she has received numerous awards. These include 2 Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. In spite of all these nominations and awards, her enthusiasm for theater is still there, and she performs as a stage performer and screen.
