Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native who was born in Houston on the 17th April in 1972. William John Garner served as an engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann was a teacher at the local school. To follow in the footsteps of her father she earned a degree in chemical engineering. But because she wanted to fulfill her ambition of becoming an actor, she relocated in New York to try her luck in the movies. While she was appearing in Broadway shows, she also worked as a server at the nearby restaurant. Her cameo was in the television series "Felicity." (It it was on this show that she met her first husband, Scott Foley.) Garner got her first big part on the screen in "13 Going on 30", a romantic comedy widely praised. She was a teen girl trapped inside the adult body. Garner picked Gary Winick to direct the film; they kept looking for new films together up until the time of his death in 2011. Garner was awarded the title an artist ambassador for Save the Children U.S.A. This role entails national literacy along with nutrition, early childhood education and various other aspects. Garner has been a member of the board for this nonprofit organization since the year 2014. She advocates early learning for children. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) team of ambassadors for the program Garner regularly visits families to provide them with strategies to motivate their children to be successful.
