April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her musical journey in the 7th grade when she took guitar and piano lessons. April's first song was Different which she composed at the age of 12. The year she turned 14 was when she devoted a great deal of her time making song lyrics and working on her musical skills. Then she began to take trips to write with father, who lived in NY in New York and LA. The month also saw her include other related topics for some of her friends dealing with issues such as social pressure and teenage suicide as depicted in the song"Take my Hand. Lockhart has her own fan base and also works as a lifestyle blogger with the popular Ilia Clean Beauty brand. Her disability is a part of her identity, but it's not all of the picture. Lockhart's profile on Instagram doesn't hide her disability but doesn't concentrate solely on it. What message is it sending? It's important to keep in mind that each of us has many faces, our identities are varied and we're much greater than the bodies we wear. It's not my intention to let that be the only thing that defines me. I don't intend to become an influencer where it's the only thing I speak about since there are many different things about me Lockhart speaks via video from her residence in Nashville. It doesn't impact my daily life. I continue to do the normal things and I've adapted to the limitations of my disability. It's also a part of my personality, and that it is something to be talked about. Lockhart is a great example of how to stay going with self-acceptance. She admits that she has been through times when she felt insecure about dressing in certain styles that exposed her arms. She is able to wear anything she wants, and she happily shares pictures of her dressed in her favorite outfits. One of the keys to self-love for her is the fact that it's not a destination. It's a journey, I'm not sure you'll ever reach your destination. I think it is important to be around those who are able to know you.
